What WikiBrand collects
WikiBrand has no accounts, no sign-in and no advertising, and it sets no tracking cookies. It collects:
- Requests. When you use the website, the JSON API or the MCP server (including from ChatGPT, Claude or another assistant), we receive the brand domain or search text you asked for, plus the technical data every web request carries: IP address, user agent and time.
- Page views. Vercel Web Analytics counts page views on the website without cookies and without identifying you.
- Usage events. PostHog records how the website, the API and the MCP server are used (a search, a brand opened, an export, which tool an assistant called, and errors), without cookies or stored identifiers, without recording your screen, and without your name or email.
- Your email, only if you give it. If you sign up for news of new brands, we keep your email address, the date and the page you signed up from. If you report a mistake on a brand page, we keep your report and, if you add it, your email.
Why
To answer requests, to keep the service running and secure (rate limits, abuse and error monitoring), to fix brand pages, to tell subscribers about new brands, and to know which brands people look up so the catalogue can grow.
Who receives it
Our hosting provider, Vercel Inc., processes requests, keeps technical logs and stores sign-ups and reports privately on our behalf. PostHog Inc. receives the usage events above, on our behalf. Nobody else. We do not sell or share data, and we do not use it to train AI models.
When you ask for a brand WikiBrand has not read yet, WikiBrand visits that brand's public website. The brand information it extracts (logo, colors, typefaces, tone of voice) is public and is added to the catalogue. It is never linked to who asked for it.
How long
Request logs are kept by Vercel for no longer than 30 days. Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Reports are kept until the brand page is fixed, then the email attached to them is deleted. Brand pages in the catalogue are kept as long as the service runs.
Your rights
You can ask for access to, or deletion of, any data about you by writing to support@wikibrand.org. Brand owners can ask for a brand page to be corrected or removed at the same address. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).
